Fun-filled One-day Wine Tour to the Overberg and Hemel-en-Aarde Valley
Get into the spirit of the Winter Season with an action-packed day-tour to the winelands of the Cape Overberg and Hemel-en-Aarde Valley! Leave your troubles behind and hop onto our fun-bus for a memorable day exploring our beautiful countryside and making new friends. Your host Christine is sure to keep you entertained!
Tour Cost: R1 000 per person (includes transport, three wine tastings, lunch and entrance fees)
Stop 1: Peregrine Farm Stall
This well-known farm stall on the N2 in the beautiful and fertile Elgin Valley showcases a variety of locally farmed and produced goods, from fynbos honey to fresh cold-pressed juices and champagne style apple cider. The aroma of freshly baked goods fills the air and teases the senses. An ideal stop for those on a strict diet... As they say, a well balanced diet is a cream cup cake in each hand.
Stop 2: Gabrielskoof Wine Estate
Situated just off the N2 outside Bot River, this family owned and run wine estate with its sweeping views of the Babilonstoren Mountains are known for their elegant, understated wines. Here you have two options: go big or go home. Indulge yourself with a wine tasting accompanied by a chocolate and olive paring... It’s the perfect opportunity to let your hair down, lose yourself in the moment, and get to know your fellow travellers. Includes a tour of the underground cellar.
Stop 3: Creation Wines
Creation's unique enclave on the scenic Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge is a sought-after wine destination where a warm welcome awaits you. Seeing that your taste buds are well oiled by now, you should have no trouble finding pleasure on the palate with the next 12 wines laid out for tasting.
Stop 4: Lunch at Eat, Love, Life Restaurant, Spookfontein Wine Farm
This ethical eatery with its incredible views of the valley is known for their healthy, fresh and nutritious meals and is the perfect pairing to the organic wines being produced on the farm using the natural wine making principles of love, passion and time. Brace yourself for more wine tasting! (Lunch and desert is included in the tour price.)
Stop 5: Harold Potter National Botanical Garden
Watch your step as you exit the bus to explore this lovely garden located between mountain and sea in Betty’s Bay, in the heart of the Cape Fynbos region within the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. Smell the fresh air, admire the unique fynbos, and don’t be tempted to find a secluded spot for a quick shut-eye. You might miss the bus.
Stop 6: Last stop and photo op
From Rooi Els we travel along the majestic coastal road that hugs the coastline a few meters above sea level. We stop at one of the lookout points for a spectacular view of the ocean – and if we’re lucky we might spot a whale or two. Then it’s the last stretch via Gordon’s Bay and Somerset West back to Melkbosstrand, and adios amigos to new friends.
